Chihkan Tower and Anping Castle are listed as two major historical sites in Tainan. In 1653, the Dutch built the European-style fortress “Pluominzhe City", which is the predecessor of Chihkan Tower. Tainan later became the largest commercial center in Taiwan, and it went through the Qing Dynasty. During the two eras during the Japanese occupation, the Tuas Hall, Sea God Temple, Penghu Academy, Wenchang Pavilion, Wuzi Temple… and other buildings were added. Chihkan Tower has established Taiwan’s historical and cultural positioning.

Tickets are required to enter the venue. Tickets for most historic sites in Tainan are the same. The full ticket is 50 TWD for friends from other counties and cities, and 25 TWD for children and students with ID cards. People in Tainan City can enter for free with ID cards.

The Chihkan Towers we see today are actually the “Sea God Temple" and the “Wenchang Pavilion." After a hundred years of wind and frost, the two buildings have become the most distinctive symbol of Tainan. Currently, the two buildings are planned to be used as cultural relics showroom and temple respectively.

The imperial tortoise stele, I heard that the poems of Emperor Qianlong were engraved on it, and it was ordered to be engraved in two languages, 10 in total, but how I count it, there are only 9 in total.

The “broken-footed stone horse" guarding the cemetery had its front foot repaired. Legend has it that this stone horse would become a horse and run out to play at night, so it was severed.

The stone lion is a guardrail made up of 12 lions with different expressions. It was carved during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. The expressions of the lions are quite imposing, which shows the high level of carving skills at that time.

The portrait of Zheng Chenggong, because it coincides with the double tenth festival, there are a lot of tourists, and it took a few pictures before they were taken.

There is an introduction to the restoration process of the two buildings on the wall. The restoration of historical sites is different from modern reinforced concrete buildings. Especially in Chinese architecture, some of the techniques of tenon, beam and column are more complicated, and some techniques have been lost in modern times.

The appearance of Wenchang Pavilion, from columns, walls, railings, and roofs, all show the exquisite aesthetics of Minnan architecture.

The ruins of Chihkan Towers, the most historically valuable remnants of Chihkan Towers. The remnants of the northeast gate made of bricks, the thickness of the gates, and the technology of stacking bricks vaguely experience the terrible artillery power of the great nautical era.

The imperial examination papers in the Qing Dynasty can be divided into children’s examinations, township examinations, general examinations, and palace examinations. To put it simply, they have been taking the examinations until the end of the examinations before becoming a high official. This was the case in the past, so don’t complain now.

Lord Kuixing, enshrined on the second floor, has a stereotype impression. The god in charge of the exam should be gentle. This god is an exception. His looks are hideous. I heard that it attracts attention so that it is easy to pass the exam. There is a blessed Kuixing pen next to it, and friends who want to take the test can ask for a pen to take to the examination room to try.

Kuixing Blessing List, write your name on the board, and make a wish with Lord Kuixing, Lord Kuixing will bless you with the title on the gold list, then the introduction of Chihkan Tower is over. END
END
