Before talking about Tainan’s Fire History Archives, we must first talk about the 80-year-old Tainan contract hall. The contract hall, built in 1930, was initially a six-story independent tower. It was called the “Huo Jian Lou" at the time. As the name suggests, it stands on the top and can be seen immediately wherever a fire occurs. The halls on both sides were added in 1937 and used as a fire fighting club, a police hall, and a police station for the Kincho police officer.

在說起臺南的消防史料館前，得先說起80年老建築台南合同廳舍。建於1930年的合同廳舍初期是一棟六層樓的獨立高塔，當時稱為「火見樓」，顧名思義，站在上方，不管哪裡發生火災馬上都看的到。兩側的廳舍則於1937年增建，做為消防會所、警察會館及錦町警察官吏派出所使用。

The Fire History Museum was restored and opened in 2019. In addition to displaying historical materials and cultural relics of historical significance, there are many interactive exhibits, allowing people to learn about disaster prevention in daily life in addition to visiting.

消防史料館於2019年修復完成啟用，館內除了展示具有歷史意義的史料文物外，還有許多能互動的展示品，讓人除了參觀外，更能學習到生活中防災知識。

As soon as I walked in, I was first attracted by this retro fire truck, the OHTA brand open-top water tank fire truck made in the 1950s, the most advanced fire truck in the early days. Regardless of the performance, the appearance alone is fascinating.

一進門，首先就被這台復古消防車所吸引，1950年代製的OHTA牌敞篷水箱消防車，早期最先進的消防車。姑且不論效能如何，光外型就迷死可可了。

During the Japanese occupation, the fire bell was hung from the top of the fire building. As long as there is a fire, the bell will ring to warn the firefighters.

日治時期的消防鐘，懸吊於火見樓頂。只要有火災發生時，便敲鐘示警消防人員。

The history of Tainan’s fire protection has a close relationship with Sumiyoshi Hidematsu. He established the “Sumiyoshi Group" in Taiwan and participated in the establishment of the “Tainan Fire Group".

台南消防歷史與住吉秀松有密切的關係，他在臺灣成立了「住吉組」，並參與了「臺南消防組」的成立。

樓梯間還展示了，現代還在使用的「循管下樓」技術。這是日治時期所發展出來的下樓技術，讓消防人員能節省很多時間趕往火場。

During the Japanese Occupation period, there was a water-collecting pressurizer next to the fire truck. This is a very special device that collects the water from the neighboring fire hydrants to form a stronger water column.

日治時期的消防車，旁邊還有個集水加壓器，這是很特別的裝置，可收集鄰近的消防栓出水，形成一股更強大的水柱。

Many people think that fire fighting means fire fighting and fire prevention. In fact, the broader term of fire fighting is to eliminate and prevent disasters.
