After lunch break ended today, Coco was driving as usual to deliver the documents prepared last week to the supervisor. Suddenly, Coco noticed police officers all along the road, initially assuming a high-ranking official was visiting. Right after arriving at the destination and parking the car, a sudden alert rang out from the phone. The screen displayed: “[Drill] Due to simulated air attacks on communications infrastructure, mobile network access will be affected…"

今天中休結束後，可可如往常一般地開著車，要把上禮拜做好的資料拿去給長官，突然發現沿路上都是警察，原本以為是哪個高級長官要來，就在到達目的地剛停好車，手機突然響起了警報。看了一下螢幕上寫著『【演習】因我通訊設施遭受空襲，行動網路將受影響……』

Based on past experience, once the drill begins, all people and vehicles must immediately pull over to take shelter, and the police officers mentioned earlier would also start directing pedestrians and traffic. Just as an officer approached Coco’s direction, Coco quickly entered the client’s office building.

根據以往的經驗，演習一旦開始，所有人、車都要立刻的靠邊躲避，剛剛說的警察，也會開始管制路人、車輛。就在一個警察朝可可方向靠近時，可可迅速地進入了業主的辦公大樓。

After going upstairs and having a brief conversation with the client, Coco returned to the building lobby to wait. Unlike past experiences, this drill was not a typical air raid exercise, but Taiwan’s first-ever “Mobile Network Throttling Drill," designed to simulate an extreme scenario where communication infrastructure is damaged during wartime.

上了樓，短暫的跟業主交談後，可可便回到大樓大廳等待，與以往不同的，這次的演習不是一般的空襲演練，而是台灣首度實施的「行動電話網路降速演練」，用來模擬戰時通訊基礎設施受損的極端情境。

Since it was the first time, Coco decided to test the mobile phone while waiting, catching a glimpse of what the world felt like without the internet during childhood.

因為是第一次，在等待的時間。可可便測試了一下手機，順便感受一下，可可小時候沒有網路的世界。

During the drill, video-sharing platforms functioned normally, but the comment section was completely cut off. The screen displayed: “No internet connection, tap to retry."

演習期間影音平台是正常可以使用的，但是留言功能卻是完全中斷，螢幕上顯示的是「沒有網路連線，請點擊重試」。

When attempting to send a Line message for testing, apps like LINE and WeChat became unusable; messages could be typed but could not be transmitted.

訊息測試，LINE、微信是無法使用的，可以打卻傳遞不出去。

Interestingly, although mobile data was disabled, the voice communication function remained operational. Real-world testing showed that Line’s voice call feature could still connect and maintain an active call.

很特別的，雖然網路被停用，但通訊功能卻能使用。實測發現，Line的語音通話功能依舊能保持連線通話。

This drill brought back some childhood memories for Coco. When people grow accustomed to the convenience of the internet, one wonders if they can truly adapt if natural disasters or warfare ever force us back to the most primitive times.

這次的演習有點回想起可可小時候，當人們習慣了網路的便利，萬一因為天災或戰亂回到了最原始的時候，不知道人們是否能真的習慣。END
